Functions of the Academic Council, RPRIT

The Academic Council shall function as the principal academic advisory body of RPRIT and shall advise the Board of Trustees on matters relating to academic development, research, training, and quality assurance.

The Academic Council shall review and recommend proposals for certificate courses, training programmes, workshops, seminars, conferences, internships, and other academic activities. It may suggest revisions to curricula, learning outcomes, and assessment methods to maintain academic standards.

The Council shall encourage research, innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the dissemination of knowledge through publications and academic events. It may recommend academic collaborations and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with educational, healthcare, research, and industrial organisations for consideration by the Board of Trustees.

The Council shall periodically review the quality and effectiveness of academic programmes and recommend measures for improvement. It may constitute temporary academic committees or expert groups for specific assignments, whose tenure shall ordinarily cease upon submission of their reports or at the end of the Council's term.

The Academic Council shall provide recommendations on academic ethics, research integrity, faculty development, student engagement, and quality assurance. All recommendations shall be advisory in nature unless approved by the Board of Trustees.

The Academic Council shall not exercise financial, legal, administrative, or executive powers, nor shall it make decisions creating continuing financial liabilities, permanent appointments, or long-term institutional commitments without the approval of the Board of Trustees.

The tenure of all recommendations, committees, and decisions of the Academic Council shall be subject to review, modification, or withdrawal by the Board of Trustees in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of RPRIT.

Role of Members of the Academic Council

Members of the Academic Council shall participate actively in meetings and provide expert advice on academic matters. They shall review and recommend proposals relating to academic programmes, research, training, workshops, and quality assurance.

Members shall contribute to curriculum development, promote academic excellence and ethical practices, and support the academic objectives of RPRIT. They may serve on temporary committees or undertake specific academic assignments as approved by the Academic Council.

Members shall function in an advisory capacity and shall have no independent executive, financial, legal, or policy-making authority. Membership of the Academic Council shall ordinarily be honorary and shall not carry any entitlement to salary or remuneration. However, the Board of Trustees may, at its discretion and subject to the availability of funds, approve an honorarium or reimbursement of actual expenses for approved academic assignments or meetings.

Role and Functions of the Secretary, Academic Council, RPRIT

The Secretary of the Academic Council shall act as the coordinating officer of the Council and shall provide administrative support for its functioning. The Secretary shall convene meetings with the approval of the Chairperson, prepare and circulate notices, agendas, and relevant documents, and record and preserve the minutes of meetings.

The Secretary shall facilitate communication among the members of the Academic Council and between the Academic Council and the Board of Trustees. The Secretary shall maintain records of recommendations, reports, and other official documents of the Council.

The Secretary shall monitor the implementation of recommendations that have been approved by the Board of Trustees and shall submit periodic progress reports to the Academic Council. The Secretary shall not independently implement, alter, or approve any academic, financial, administrative, or policy decision.

The Secretary may coordinate the preparation of course proposals, academic reports, quality assurance documents, and collaborative initiatives for consideration by the Academic Council. The Secretary may also assist in organising academic programmes, workshops, seminars, conferences, and other educational activities.

The Secretary shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the Chairperson or the Board of Trustees. The office of the Secretary shall be administrative and coordinative in nature and shall not carry any independent executive, financial, legal, or policy-making authority. The Secretary's responsibilities shall automatically cease upon completion of the tenure or reconstitution of the Academic Council unless otherwise decided by the Board of Trustees.
