3 Month Certificate Course on Applied Statistics for Safety and Disaster management using jamovi

Organized by Rabindrik Psychotherapy Research Institute Trust (RPRIT), Registered Academic Trust by Indian Trust Act,1882, REGD.NO.150600103, DARPAN ID WB/2025/0514195 in collaboration with ABBS School of Management.

Background: Over the last two years, RPRIT has developed indigenous statistical models in descriptive analysis, dimension reduction, and classification through extensive multi-state research. As a registered vendor of Tata Power, RPRIT is working toward a Pan-India safety and disaster analytics model to support evidence-based safety management and disaster preparedness. This certificate course, offered in collaboration with ABBS School of Management, is aligned with NEP 2020 and emphasizes applied, skill-based learning through conceptual understanding, visualization, and applied interpretation using jamovi; no prior knowledge of statistics or mathematics is required.

Objective of course
The course helps learners gain conceptual clarity in Safety and Disaster Management and develop practical data analysis skills through hands-on training using Jamovi software

Learning Outcomes of the course

1. Understand key psychological concepts related to safety, hazards, and disaster management.

2. Apply basic statistical tools to analyze safety-related data using Jamovi software.

3. Assess safety climate and interpret findings through practical, hands-on training.

4. Integrate psychological and indigenous perspectives to understand human responses to safety and risk

Career & Future Scope

The course equips learners with foundational skills for entry-level roles in safety support, safety data analysis, and research assistance in industries, organizations, NGOs, and disaster management sectors. It also provides a strong base for higher studies and advanced training in Safety Management, Disaster Psychology, Industrial Psychology, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Qualification

Open to learners from non-statistical backgrounds, including professionals or students in safety engineering, Psychology, emergency management, public health, or any related field who may have little or no prior experience in statistics.

Syllabus:

Module 1: Introduction to Safety, hazards & disaster theories: Definitions and theories: Single factor theory, domino theory, Multiple factors theory, system theory, psychological theories: motivation reward satisfaction model, human factors theory, energy release theories, Rabindrik psychotherapy safety theory,

 Practical: Literature review.

Module 2: Statistical tools used in safety and disaster management: Descriptive Statistics, Data visualization, probability and risk analysis, inferential statistical tool: evaluation of safety interventions, accident prediction, disaster forecasting monitoring software used jamovi.

 Practical: Psychological safety assessment

Module 3: Practicum on safety climate questionnaire data analysis and report writing 

Duration: 3 Month (24 Hours).

Credit points: 1

Registration Fee is non-refundable: Rs10620 (including 18%Gst). For the convenience of students, an instalment payment option is available. Under this scheme, 60% of the fee (₹6,372) is to be paid as the first instalment, followed by 20% (₹2,124) as the second instalment and the remaining 20% (₹2,124) as the final instalment.



Day and Timings: 7-8 PM on Monday and 7-8 PM Saturday.

Certificate: Certificate will be provided after course completion. A marksheet will be awarded only upon completion of both theoretical and practical components

Teaching Pedagogy: Use of real industrial data and carefully designed hypothetical datasets for learning and practice. Access to digital study materials. Live sessions with expert instructors, Google classroom, WhatsApp group, Personalized feedback on assignments and practicums. 

Resource persons will be internal and external faculties.

Evaluation Scheme (100 Marks) 
1. Theory exam (Module 1 & Module 2): 30+30=60 Marks 
2. Final Project (Data analysis, interpretation, report & presentation): 40 Marks
