Course Overview
Chandalika is not merely a drama about caste discrimination; it's also a drama about a resolution of human conflict.Throughout the narrative Prakriti experiences identity, social, emotional, moral and spiritual conflicts. The resolution of the conflicts doesn't occur through external victory or domination but through self awareness, moral insight, compassion and inner transformation. In this internship, interns will learn both the qualitative and quantitative approach( rank order in analysis of different conflict and resolution strategies). This approach is consistent with Tagore humanistic philosophy that emphasizes personal growth and liberation.
Conflict orientation: The conflicts in chandalika are resolved not through confrontation, punishment or dominance but through inner transformation. Tagore presents conflict as an opportunity for psychological growth..Chandalika offers a humanistic model of conflict resolution based on dignity, compassion, responsibility and liberation. This makes the drama highly relevant to contemporary studies in psychology, conflict management, peace education and Rabindrik psychotherapy.
