·        What is Forensic Psychology?

Forensic psychology deals with all the aspects of human behaviour as it relates to the law or legal system. It is a branch of psychology that relates individual’s action which are against social norms.

Forensic psychologists are primarily interested in seeking truth from suspects by using investigation instruments, mental health issues pertaining to the law, providing expert witness in court, personnel selection in law enforcement agencies, conducting treatment for the offenders. Experimental forensic psychologists deal with studying any aspect of human behaviour that relates to law such as, eyewitness memory, risk assessment etc.

Rabindrik Psychotherapy Research Institute aims at disseminating knowledge about  basic concept and theories of forensic Psychology and research methodology for level 1. In level 2, students will learn the assessment tools for investigation. In level 3, students will learn the judicial Act and will be able to contribute good research and national development.

 

FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY (3 Level Module)

      Eligibility for Admission: B.A./M.A. degree in Psychology from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. For SC/ST category, a minimum 50% mark in aggregate. People from Human development, Law, Education, Psychiatry, Forensic science can apply.

      Admission Fees: For Indians: Rs. 6000/- per Module; For NRI: $ 250 US per module in the INR.

      Intake Capacity: 20 students per module.

      Course Duration: 3 months per module (5 days a week, 2 hours each day).

      Mode of Study: Online.

      Mode of Payment: Online.

      Admission Procedure: 50% weightage to UG/PG marks, 50% weightage to interview marks.

Theories of Crime: Biological, Criminal Justice, Cultural Transmission, Rational Choice, Psychological, Self-Control theories, Rabindrik Psychotherapy.

Forensic Psychological Investigation Techniques I: Crime Scene Investigation, Steps of Forensic Investigation, criminal profiling, Polygraph and Narcoanalysis with case studies.

Data Analysis and Forensic Report Writing: Statistical tests, steps, statistical analysis tools, ANOVA, ANCOVA, Skewness, Measures of Central Tendency, correlation, regression, steps of forensic report writing, APA style of publication.

Forensic Psychology in Court: Consent, Confidentiality, Human Rights, Expert Witness, Ethical Implications/Standards, Competency to Stand Trial, eye-witness testimony, forensic reports, insanity plea, Juvenile Justice Act, Mental Health Act, NDPS Act.

 ·        About the Institute: Rabindrik Psychotherapy Research Institute is one voluntary research initiative to explore Psychotherapeutic postulates extracted from the literary works of Rabindranath Tagore. Currently it is located at 3C/2, G.Mondol Road, Kolkata - 700002 (Opposite of the main gate of Rabindrabharati University). The institute has two wings - Psychotherapy and Research. The institute has started its courses from 1st July, 2018. Institute is engaged in dissemination of knowledge through seminars and workshops and different courses. The first seminar was held at Shantiniketan, second at the Department of Education, Jadavpur University and 3rd one was  held at the Hope foundation, Kolkata. Recently, the institute conducted workshop with Philippines, Greece and Bangladesh.
