1.Course name: Music Therapy using Rabindra sangeet.

2. Background : Synchronization of instrumental music and lyrics of Rabindra sangeet has effect on the Murta, Raag and Saraswat layers of consciousness. This causes laminar flow in consciousness and developes attention and concentration. In the Educational settings, it causes intrinsic academic motivation. In the hospital setting, this reduces pre, during and post intervention stress like surgery. Finally it encourages adherence to medical suggestions. 

3. Learning objectives: After the course, you will be able to work in variety of health care and educational settings.

4. Topics : Consciousness window, Consciousness layers, Flow theory, Rabindrik Psychotherapy, Music theory, Introduction to Characteristics and types of Music therapy, Receptive, Creative, Reflective music, Music and Assessment, Music synchronisation with other arts. Psychophysics, Theories of sensory motor integration, Music perception and mental functions, Neuropsychology and music, Music and stress, Music and flow gram, Music therapy in health care and Educational settings. 

5. Who can join? Graduate or Post graduate students with diploma or degree in Rabindra sangeet or instrumental music can apply. 

6. Duration : Only on Saturday for 2 hours ,5-7 PM, 24 classes. (November-January ,2020). It may be extended to January in emergency. 

7. Certificate : Competency certificate will be provided. Examination will be held regularly. 

8. Course fee :There will be two options. First is One time non refundable Rs 6000 to be paid in cash. Second option is payment by instalment (Rs 2000 per month). For sponsored candidates, Rs 6000 only in cash. The amount will be used for tuition and infrastructure costs.

9. Venue : Rabindrik Psychotherapy Research Institute, 3C /2, G.Mondol Road, Kolkata-700002 (opposite of Rabindrabharati University, B.T.Road campus).
